Accounting Manager/Part-Time

The Part-Time Accounting Manager will oversee all financial aspects of the organization, ensuring accurate accounting records, financial reports, and compliance with legal and grant requirements. This individual will play a key role in maintaining transparency and accountability in the organization finances, supporting the leadership team in budgeting, financial forecasting, and strategic decision-making.Responsibilities Include:- Financial Management:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and monitor ongoing performance against the budget.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support the Executive Director and leadership team in decision-making.
- Compliance & Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as non-profit accounting standards.
- Prepare for and assist with audits, ensuring all required documentation is organized and accessible.
- Grant Reporting:
- Monitor and track restricted and unrestricted grant funds, ensuring proper allocation and reporting as required by donors and funders.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for grantors, ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the organization’s financial stability.
- Work with the Executive Director to identify any potential cash flow issues and recommend solutions.
- Collaboration & Training:
- Work closely with other departments to support financial decision-making and ensure smooth operations.
- Provide training and guidance on financial procedures to staff, as needed.
Qualifications:- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of non-profit financial regulations, fund accounting, and grant management is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
